Geotab to Acquire BSM Technologies

geotabGeotab, an Oakville, ON, Canada-based global leader in IoT and connected transportation, is to acquire BSM Technologies, a Toronto, Canada-based provider of telematics and asset management solutions to more than 165,000 vehicles across government and private fleets in Canada and the United States.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed. The acquisition would add to the over 1.5 million fleet telematics subscribers utilizing Geotab globally and accelerate its presence across North America including in the electric vehicle space.
By adopting the Geotab platform, BSM’s customers in government as well as other verticals including construction, service and rail, will benefit from Geotab’s engineering expertise and focus on security, scalability and reliability and gain access to solutions for enhanced visibility into vehicle performance, driver habits, accident detection and more.

Led by Neil Cawse, CEO, Geotab is advancing security, connecting commercial vehicles to the internet and providing web-based analytics to help customers manage their fleets. Its open platform and marketplace, offering hundreds of third-party solution options, allows both small and large businesses to automate operations by integrating vehicle data with their other data assets. As an IoT hub, the in-vehicle device provides additional functionality through IOX Add-Ons.
