Mindesk, a Bari, Italy-based provider of a platform for modeling CAD in VR/AR, raised $900k in funding.
Backers included HTC Vive, Barcamper Ventures, A11 Ventures and Invitalia Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations and its development efforts.
Founded in 2015 and led by Gabriele Sorrento, CEO, Mindesk provides a platform for modeling CAD in VR/AR, which allows users to create and modify tridimensional objects in real time. The platform is already available as a plug-in for McNeel Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Dassault SolidWorks, mainly used for engineering, naval industry and creative arts.
The company recently introduced its plug-in for Rhino with Unreal Editor, developed in partnership with Epic Games, to add photorealism to CAD 3D modeling to create the ideal environment for AEC (Architecture Engineering Construction – Industria delle costruzioni).
Mindesk, which has opened an office in San Francisco after completing Vive X, the AR/VR acceleration program of HTC Vive, will continue to develop software both in Italy and USA.
