Renewal Mill Raises $2.5M in Seed Funding

renewal millRenewal Mill, an Oakland, CA-based food ingredients company, raised $2.5m in seed funding.

HG Ventures made the investment. As part of the investment, Kip Frey, Managing Director of HG Ventures, will join Renewal Mill’s Board of Directors.

The company will use the funds to scale current production and expand into new market opportunities.

Led by Claire Schlemme, CEO, Renewal Mill is a food ingredients company providing sustainable solutions to production and manufacturing waste. It upcycles the byproducts of food manufacturing into premium ingredients and products. In addition to providing manufacturers with a comprehensive solution to their production waste, the company has developed technology that returns nutrition to the supply chain and reclaims a wide variety of nutritionally valuable byproducts.
In 2018, Renewal Mill received an equity investment from Techstars Farm to Fork Accelerator and secured a joint research and development project with Cargill.
