Visible Body Receives Investment from Capitala and Lineage Capital

visiblebodyVisible Body, a Newton Upper Falls, MA-based creator of human anatomy apps, received a strategic investment from two Capitala Group and Lineage Capital.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth in the business-to-consumer space and business-to-business marketplace.

Led by Andrew Bowditch, co-founder and CEO, Visible Body provides 3D anatomical models and animations of the human body to make learning and teaching anatomy and physiology visual and engaging. Its apps advance the way students learn and healthcare professionals practice. Over 1 million people have used its products over the web, on iPads, iPhones, Android devices, PCs, and Macs.

In addition to its consumer apps, the company provides a cloud-based Visible Learning Platform (VLP) that serves the educational and institutional market. VLP delivers visual reference and integrated courseware teaching apps with anatomy, physiology and pathology content in Virtual Reality (VR) anatomical models. It is used by universities, community colleges, high schools, and online learning providers, as well as healthcare professionals for training and continuing education.

Clients include Apple, Google, Microsoft, Medtronic, Wolters Kluwer and Space; medical centers such as Mass General Hospital; and pharmaceutical companies such as Johnson & Johnson.
