Fisker Receives Strategic Investment From Caterpillar Ventures

Fisker Inc., a Los Angeles, CA-based e-mobility and technology company developing electric vehicles and proprietary solid-state battery technologies, received a strategic investment from Caterpillar Ventures.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

Caterpillar Ventures is a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar, a manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives.

Founded by Henrik Fisker, the company is developing electric vehicles and proprietary solid-state battery technologies.

Its products include:

• EMotion, a car equipped with an advanced autonomous driving system composed of multiple LIDAR sensors throughout the body, ultrasonic sensors, and cameras with the capability of reacting quickly through the short-range and long range radar, and 
• Fisker ORBIT, an electric, connected and autonomous (driverless) shuttle for smart cities, campuses, and other geo-fenced routes.
