Plant Prefab, a Rialto, Calif.-based home design and prefabrication company, raised a $6.7m Series A funding round.
Backers included Obvious Ventures and the Amazon Alexa Fund.
The company intends to use the funds to invest in new senior hires, building the marketing and sales team, and developing its patented Plant Building System.
Led by Founder and CEO Steve Glenn, Plant Prefab manufactures custom single and multi-family homes which are sustainable and durable. The company is focused on sustainable construction, materials, processes and operations and its homes are built in ways that minimize the negative impact of development on energy, water, resources and indoor air quality.
Spun out in 2016 of LivingHomes, a design and development company that’s designed and built dozens of award-winning prefabricated homes, Plant Prefab has partnered with leading architects and designers, including Ray Kappe, Kieran Timberlake and Yves Behar.
In recent months the company has installed 26 units in California and Utah as well as a multifamily project in Berkeley.
Plant Prefab operates out of a 62,000 square foot facility in Rialto, California.
