Atlassian Acquires OpsGenie, for $295M

atlassianOpsGenie, a Boston, MA-based provider of a technology platform for DevOps and IT-operations teams to manage critical IT alerts and incidents, has signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by Atlassian (Nasdaq: TEAM), a provider of team-collaboration and productivity software, for $295m.

The transaction is expected to close in October, subject to certain closing conditions.

The acquisition enables Atlassian to integrate OpsGenie into Jira Ops, a just launched end-to-end incident management platform, and underscores the company’s strategic focus on the IT market.

Led by Berkay Mollamustafaoğlu, co-founder and CEO, OpsGenie provides a platform for organizations to manage the flood of increasingly critical IT alerts that are now commonplace when operating “always-on” IT services. The solution centralizes alerts, notifies the right people reliably and enables them to collaborate and take rapid action.
OpsGenie’s technology – currently used by more than 3,000 companies – integrates with other key monitoring and ticketing tools and serves as a central repository for alert data.

The company has additional offices in Falls Church, Virginia, and Ankara, Turkey and is backed by Battery Ventures, which led OpsGenie’s Series A investment in 2016 and was its majority shareholder.

Atlassian provides team collaboration and productivity software for teams to organize, discuss and complete shared work. The company’s project tracking, content creation and sharing, and service management products are used by teams at more than 125,000 customers, across large and small organizations – including General Motors, Walmart Labs, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Lyft, Verizon, Spotify, and NASA.
