Local Goods Platform Glovo Closes €115M Series C Funding Round

Glovo, a Barcelona, Spain-based local goods marketplace, closed a €115m Series C funding round.

Backers included Rakuten, Cathay Innovation, Seaya Ventures, AmRest, Idinvest Partners and GR Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to optimize the platform, expand the tech team with hire over 100 engineers in the coming months.

Founded in January 2015 and led by Oscar Pierre, CEO, Glovo is an on demand service for people to buy anything (such as food, pharmacy products, groceries, etc.) through the iOS and Android app. The service is carried-out in less than an hour by independent couriers, called Glovers.
The service is currently available in Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Chile, Argentina, Morocco, Brazil, Costa Rica, Turkey, Panama, Romania, Peru, and Egypt, among others.
