Learning Company pi-top Closes $16M Funding Round

pi-top, a London, UK-based learning company, closed $16M in funding.

The round, which brought total funding to $22.5m to-date, was led by Hambro Perks and Committed Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand its capabilities in manufacturing, marketing, sales and operations to drive global growth.

Founded in 2014 by Jesse Lozano, CEO, pi-top provides an ecosystem blending physical computing and project-based learning with computer science and STEAM education. The company’s learning system provides students around the world with STEAM knowledge, while building the skills they need to take on the future, such as problem-solving, teamwork, creativity and critical-thinking.

Currently, pi-top products are in more than 2,000 schools around the world, having manufactured more than 100,000 devices. Since the last round of funding in 2016, pi-top has grown to a team of over 80 people worldwide, adding offices in Austin, Texas and Shenzhen China, while expanding the team at its headquarters in London, UK.

The company’s management team also includes:
– Graham Brown-Martin, Chief Education and Product Officer;
– Dr. William Rankin, Director of Learning and Research;
– Tim Bush, Global Chief Marketing Officer;
– Mark Stewart, Chief Commercial Officer; and
– Paul Callaghan, Chief Operating Officer.
