Computer Vision Face-Tracking System BinaryVR Closes $4.5M Series A

BinaryVR, a Burlingame CA-based developer of a computer vision face-tracking system, closed a $4.5m Series A funding.

Backers included Atinum Investment, KT Investment, Pearl Abyss and Kakao Ventures.

The company, which has now raised about $5.8m in total, intends to use the funds to continue to expand its development efforts and adoption of its solution.

Led by Jihun Yu, CEO, Jungwoon Park, CSO, and Kenneth Ryu, COO, BinaryVR develops real-time facial motion capture technology, which includes face detection, facial landmark tracking, and expression value tracking to empower real-time 3D character, AR filter, VR avatar experience with delicate portraiture of one’s expression. Furthermore, the company supports advanced applications of the technology in AI interaction from the fields of smart speakers, robotics, and automobile infotainment.

The company released its $349 developer kit in early 2017.
