Embodied Raises $22M in Series A Funding

Embodied, a Pasadena, Calif.- based developer of an AI software platform and companion robots for the care and wellness of families and individuals, raised $22m in Series A financing.

The round was led by Calibrate Ventures with participation from new major investor Jazz Venture Partners and existing investors Osage University Partners, Intel Capital, Grishin Robotics and others. In conjunction with the funding, Jason Schoettler from Calibrate Ventures and Andrew Firlik from JAZZ Venture Partners, are joining Embodied’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the proceeds to continue adding to the team of robotics and AI experts, neuroscientists, and creative animators.

Co-founded by Paolo Pirjanian, former CTO of iRobot (Nasdaq IRBT), and Maja Matarić, chaired professor of Computer Science, Neuroscience, and Pediatrics at USC, and also led by CTO Dr. Stefan Scherer and CCO Craig Allen, Embodied is a robotics and AI company developing companion socially assistive robots that aim to improve care and wellness, enhancing quality of life for individuals and families.
