Learning Machine Raises $3M in Seed Financing

Learning Machine Technologies, a NYC-based enterprise software firm specializing in self-sovereign digital identity through directly owned, verifiable official records, closed a $3m seed funding round.

The round was led by PTB Ventures with participation from strategic investments from Omidyar Network and Learn Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its solutions.

Led by CEO Chris Jagers, CTO Kim Duffy, and President and COO Dr. Daniel Hughes, Learning Machine makes software for organizations around the world looking to issue blockchain-based credentials (“Blockcerts”) at scale. The company’s software streamlines routine business operations, de-risks official credentialing practices and reduces both fraud and verification costs. Its digital identity solutions also aim to improve access to services, education, capital and dignified employment.

The Blockcerts open standard was developed by Learning Machine in partnership with the MIT Media Lab.
