Healthcare Company Heal Raises $20M in Funding

Heal, a Los Angeles, CA-based market-leader in doctor house calls, closed $20m in funding.

Backers included Bascom Ventures, Inflection Capital, IRA Capital, RLJ Equity Partners, Trans-Pacific Technology Fund, and others, who have now joined existing investors Fidelity Contrafund, Jim Breyer, Lionel Richie, and Dr. Paul Jacobs.

The company, which has raised more than $69m in total capital raised to date, intends to use the capital to pursue new markets, explore new business models, and advance their technology.

Launched in March 2015 by CEO Nick Desai, and chief medical officer Dr. Renee Dua, Heal provides patients with an app to to get a qualified medical doctor at home within two hours, twelve hours a day, 365 days a year.
Already in-network with many PPO insurance plans from all major insurance companies, including Blue Shield of California, Health Net, Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna, United Health Care, CareFirst, and others, Heal is also offered as a health benefit option by many large employers.
