Future Meat Technologies, a Jerusalem, Israel-based startup developing non-GMO technology for cultured meat production, raised $2.2m in seed funding.
The round was co-led by Tyson Ventures, the venture capital arm of Tyson Foods, with participation from the Neto Group, HB Ventures, S2G Ventures, BitsXBites, and Agrinnovation.
The company intends to use the funds to establish its engineering activities and increase its biological research.
Led by Rom Kshuk, CEO, and Prof. Yaakov Nahmias, founder and Chief Scientist, Future Meat Technologies is a biotechnology company advancing a distributive manufacturing platform for the non-GMO production of meat directly from animal cells, without the need to raise or harvest animals.
The technology was exclusively licensed from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
