Cyber Security Company Blackpoint Cyber Raises $6M in Funding

Blackpoint, an Ellicott City, Md.-based cyber security company offering patented lateral spread detection and network visualization, raised $6m in funding.

The round was led by Adelphi Capital and Telcom Ventures with participation from Maryland Venture Fund.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate its sales and marketing efforts, to scale in U.S. and foreign markets.

Led by Jon Murchison, CEO and founder, Blackpoint provides a cyber security platform, called SNAP-Defense, which offers customers the opportunity to reduce their product stack and the ability to detain cyber threats extremely early in a breach – before they can spread.
SNAP’s Live Network Map enables users to have an accurate and real-time visualization of every asset in their network and then focuses on universal threat behavior such as network enumeration, lateral movement, and system administration tradecraft.
Recent advancements to the platform include a multi-tenant dashboard for MSSPs, anautomated compliance module, and a Networked Industrial Control Operations System (NICOS) module for securing smart building systems, industrial control systems, and operations technology, including factory and logistics control systems.
