Castbox, a San Francisco, CA-based global podcast platform, raised $13.5m in Series B financing.
The round, which brings total funding to $29.5m to date, was led by SIG China, with participation from existing investors IDG Capital, Qiming Venture Partners, and GSR Ventures.
The company will use the new capital to accelerate user adoption, expand its proprietary technology, and invest in original content across a wide variety of genres.
Led by Renee Wang, founder and CEO, Castbox is a global podcast platform that enables anyone to find, access, create and enjoy spoken audio content. Castbox gives users access to content in multiple languages, anywhere, through any device. The company’s proprietary technology includes features like curated podcast recommendations and in-audio deep search to customize the listening experience.
Since the last round of financing completed in October 2017, Castbox has doubled its user base to 15 million and grown its podcast library to 50 million episodes.
