Virta Health Raises $45M in Funding

Virta Health, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of a clinically-proven treatment to reverse type 2 diabetes (T2D) and other chronic metabolic diseases without the use of medications or surgery, raised a $45m Series B funding round.

Backers in the round, which brings the total equity funding to $75m to date, included Venrock, Obvious Ventures, Creandum, Caffeinated Capital, and Max Levchin’s SciFi VC and new investors Founders Fund and Playground Global.

The company intends to use the funds to conduct research and expand treatment to reverse type 2 diabetes and other chronic metabolic diseases growing its commercial capabilities to drive additional partnerships with employers, health plans, and government.
