SenseTime Raises US$600M in Series C Funding

SenseTime, a Bejiing, China – based artificial intelligence (AI) company, raised US$600m in Series C funding.

The round was led by Alibaba Group with participation from Temasek and Suning.

The company intends to use the funds to buildout its AI platform, advancing technological innovation and opening up new business opportunities.

Led by Li Xu, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, SenseTime provides a deep learning supercomputing platform boasting over 8,000 GPUs and able to support building models with hundreds of billions of parameters, categorizing hundreds of millions of data and training billions of images. The platform has applications in such fields as facial and image recognition, autonomous driving, medical imaging and deep learning hardware optimization.
In 2017, SenseTime signed strategic partnerships in China and abroad with Qualcomm, Honda Suning, Massachusets Institute of Technology, INESA Group and Lingang Group.

To date, the company has established partnerships with more than 400 domestic and overseas enterprises across security, fintech, automobile, retail, smartphone, mobile Internet and robotics.
