Microsoft Ventures Rebrands as M12

Microsoft Ventures, the corporate VC of Microsoft, has chanced its name and become M12.

The name M12 is composed by the letter M, a reminder that it has Microsoft behind it, and the number 12, which represents the number of letters ot the word E-N-T-R-E-P-R-E-N-E-U-R.

M12 is an active investor with over 50 investments in two years, in areas ranging cybersecurity, artificial intelligence/machine learning, industrial drones and 3D printing. It is made up of experienced VCs and Microsoft veterans—with team members on the ground in North America, Europe and Israel.

The program will continue to invest in startups driving digital transformation in exchange for equity, connecting them out there with Microsoft’s executives, business unit leaders, individual engineers and salespeople, who work with the companies around Microsoft.
