Knowhere Raises $1.8M in Seed Funding

Knowhere, a San Francisco, CA and London, UK-based news publication that uses machine learning to write unbiased coverage of the day’s biggest stories, raised $1.8M in seed funding.

Backers included CrunchFund, Day One Ventures, Danhua Capital, Struck Capital and Abstract Ventures.

Co-founded by CEO and Editor-in-Chief Nathaniel Barling, Alexandre Elkrief and Dylan Rhodes, Knowhere leverages technology that scours the internet, evaluating narratives, factual claims and bias in reporting, by outlets as varied as the New York Times and Breitbart, to inform three aspects of every controversial story: left, impartial, and right, or positive, impartial and negative.
The technology can write stories from 60 seconds to 15 minutes, depending on the amount of controversy among the sources. Once article drafts are complete, human journalists review the piece, which in turn trains the machine learning algorithm.

Knowhere has been developing its technology in stealth for nearly three years. It is currently a part of the StartX accelerator.
