Sofinnova Partners Closes €125M Fund Focused on Industrial Biotechnologies

Sofinnova Partners, a European venture capital firm specialized in life sciences, recently closed a €125M fund.

Financed by institutional investors and industrial players, Sofinnova IB I is dedicated to industrial biotechnologies, with a focus on startups in Europe and North America.

The fund plans to invest in about ten early stage companies which focus on the replacement of fossil carbon by a renewable one and cover the entire chemical industry, from agrichemicals to polymers and specialty chemicals. It has already invested in
– Agrosavfe, which focuses on biological molecules to replace chemical fungicides and insecticides,
– Micropep Technologies, which develops a non-GMO new generation of bioherbicides and biostimulants, and
– Ag-Biotech.

Based in Paris, France, Sofinnova Partners is a venture capital firm specialized in Life Sciences which seeks to invest as a founding and lead investor in startups and corporate spinoffs. It has backed nearly 500 companies over 45 years.
