ecobee Closes $61M Series C Funding Round

ecobee, Inc., a Toronto, Canada-based provider of a smart Wi-Fi thermostat, closed on a $61m USD ($80m CAD) Series C funding round.

The round, which brings total funding to approximately $146m to date, was led by Energy Impact Partners, with participation from Thomvest, Relay Ventures, the Amazon Alexa Fund, North Leaf Capital Partners, Export Development Canada, Ontario Capital Growth Corporation, Tech Capital and GXP Investments. In conjunction with the funding, Lindsay Luger, Partner at Energy Impact Partners, will be joining the ecobee Board of Directors.

The company intends to use the funds to build upon its suite of smart home technologies connected by whole-home-voice control, sensor technology and artificial intelligence.

Led by Stuart Lombard, President and CEO, ecobee has developed ecobee4, a smart Wi-Fi thermostat, which features room sensor technology, Amazon Alexa voice service, far-field voice recognition, and a wide array of smart home integrations, to allow customers to manage their homes.
The smart thermostats are compatible with the company’s signature room sensor technology, which measures temperature and occupancy in up to 32 rooms of the home.
