Degreed Raises $42M Series C Funding

Degreed, a San Francisco, CA-based career-long learning platform, raised $42m in Series C funding.

The round was co-led by Owl Ventures and Jump Capital with participation from Founders Circle Capital, and existing investors GSV Acceleration Fund and Signal Peak Ventures.

The company, which has raised a total of $75m to-date, will use the funds to commercialize its newest product, Skill Certification, a system to both certify and rate any skill, to expand its global sales force, and further grow its design, engineering and client service teams.

Founded in 2012, Degreed provides a platform to discover, learn and certify the skills people need for their future. The system:

  • connects all the resources people use to learn and grow, including corporate learning systems and millions of courses, videos, books, articles, podcasts, and subject experts from thousands of sources, and
  • adds data science and machine learning to provide people and businesses with the tools, analytics and feedback they need.

The company, which has additional offices in Salt Lake City and Amsterdam, is led by David Blake, Executive Chairman, and Chris McCarthy, formerly Chief Operating Officer, who just become the new CEO.
