Cheddar Raises $22m in Series D Financing

Cheddar, a NYC-based live, post-cable network, raised $22m in Series D financing.

The round was led by Raine Ventures with participation from new investors Liberty Global, Goldman Sachs, Antenna Group, 7 Global Capital, Dentsu Ventures, and the family office of Kelly Loeffler and Jeff Sprecher and existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners, Comcast Ventures, AT&T, Altice USA, The New York Stock Exchange, Ribbit Capital, and Amazon.

The company intends to use the funds to launch its second live news network and accelerate international growth.

Led by Jon Steinberg, Founder and CEO, Cheddar is a live Post-Cable Network focused on covering the most innovative products, technologies, and services. Available on Sling TV, Amazon, Twitter, 60% of smart tvs in the U.S., and Facebook, Cheddar plans to launch “Cheddar Big News,” a general news network focused on non-partisan, national news with the style and sentiment of local news the next month. “Cheddar Big News” delivers the day’s headlines from politics, business, sports, weather and trending stories without crowding the set with pundits and panels.
The company’s advertising and content marketing products “Cheddar Segments” and “Cheddar Shows” have also launched the “live-read” sponsorship model with partners like Dunkin’, TradeStation, Fidelity, E*TRADE, Ally, HP, Volvo, and a host of others.
