Catalyte, a Baltimore-based software engineering services company, raised $27M in Series A funding.

Backers included
– Revolution’s Rise of The Rest Seed Fund,
– Cross Culture Ventures,
– Expon Capital, and
– Palm Drive Capital.

In addition, Catalyte also acquired software development and consulting service company Surge.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its business reach by opening development centers in new cities in 2018.

Led by CEO Jacob Hsu, Catalyte applies proprietary artificial intelligence and predictive analytics to identify talented individuals who are often overlooked for technology jobs due to outdated hiring practices that rely on resumes and college degrees.
The company provides individuals coming from all backgrounds and having the potential and cognitive ability to be software developers with career opportunities while also producing software for Fortune 500 clients.
