7D Surgical Completes Financing Round

7D Surgical, a Toronto, Canada-based company that develops advanced optical technologies and machine vision-based registration algorithms to improve surgical workflow and patient care, completed a significant financing round.

The amount of the deal and the investors were not disclosed.

The company intends to use the funds for the commercialization and development of its machine-vision Image Guided Surgery (MvIGS) technology and a pipeline of innovative features for both spine and cranial surgical navigation.

Led by Beau Standish, Chief Executive Officer, and Brian Stuart, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, 7D Surgical develops advanced optical technologies and machine vision-based registration algorithms to improve surgical workflow and patient care. The company has integrated principles common in self-driving vehicles and facial recognition to create its FDA 510(k)-cleared and Health Canada-approved MvIGS platform. 7D Surgical’s Flash™ Registration and Flash™ Fix technology allows spine surgeons to perform spinal registration in seconds. Clinicians can also update the patient registration with a foot pedal click. The system uses only visible light, eliminating the patient and staff exposure to intraoperative radiation which is common with older technologies.
