Canva, a Sydney, Australia-based online design and publishing platform used globally, raised US$40M in funding.
The round, which valued the company at US$1B, saw the participation of Sequoia China, Blackbird Ventures and Felicis Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand its business reach globally and advance its core product offering.
Led by Melanie Perkins, CEO and Co-founder, Canva provides an online design and publishing platform now available in all operating systems across 190 countries.
The company, which employs 250 people, recently reached availability in 100 languages, released a Canva for Android app, as well as rolled out Canva Print in the US, Europe and Australia, and Mexico. Canva also supports over 17,000 non-profits around the world with free access to its premium product.
