Pwnie Express Secures $8M in Funding

Pwnie Express, a Boston, MA-based IoT security company, raised $8m in funding.

The round, which brings the total invested to date to $28m, was led by existing investors .406 Ventures, Ascent Venture Partners and Fairhaven Capital with participation from the Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies (VCET).

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate development efforts, rolling out new versions of its IoT security products and launching its Stampede and channel programs for managed security service providers (MSSPs), value-added resellers (VARs), and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Led by newly appointed CEO Todd DeSisto and former CEO Paul Paget (who is now executive vice president focused on strategy), Pwnie Express provides an the IoT security platform that continuously identifies and assesses all devices and IoT systems to prevent IoT based threats from disrupting business operations, without the need for agents, or changes to network infrastructure.
