Peanut Raises Seed Funding

Peanut, a London, UK-based provider of an app for mothers, raised a seed funding of undisclosed amount.

The round was led by Sweet Capital Investment and the Female Founders Fund with participation from Greycroft, Sound Ventures, New Enterprise Associates, Felix and Partech.

The company intends to use the funds to further grow the team and build the community of users.

Co-founded by Michelle Kennedy and Greg Orlowski, Peanut provides a mobile app for mothers to chat, meet up with, and learn from like-minded women. The Android and iOS app uses an algorithm to connect women based on commonalities including location, interests, mutual friends, languages, the age and gender of their children, and their educational background, amongst other things. It also utilizes machine learning and a smart algorithm to understand user behaviour, thus personalizing the experience and creating more meaningful connections.
Features include group chats, the ability to suggest and poll meetup times, send invitations to users and add meetings directly into their calendars.

Since launching, Peanut now has over 160k female members, generating over 17 million swipes.
