Withlocals, an Eindhoven, the Netherlands – based global marketplace for personalized travel experiences, raised €3.5m (USD$4.1m) in Series A funding.
The round was led by Inkef Capital.
The company intends to use the funds to expand into 40 more cities in the next year, including New York, Florence, and Hong Kong.
Founded in 2013 and led by Matthijs Keij, CEO, Withlocals is an online tours and activities marketplace that allows local hosts to offer personalized, and affordable experiences to travelers. It is a person-to-person marketplace which vets hosts to offer private, fully-customizable activities for solo travelers, couples, families, or groups of friends. On Withlocals, travelers can change the start time, add stops or customize tours based on their interests.
It currently offers over 1,200 fully-customizable, 100% private tours and activities led by 900 local hosts in 24 international cities.
