The Zebra, an Austin, Texas-based auto insurance comparison marketplace, raised $40m in Series B funding.
The round, which brings funding total to $61.5m, was led by Accel Partners with participation from Silverton Partners, Floodgate, Ballast Point Ventures, Mark Cuban, Daher Capital, and Birchmere Labs.
The company intends to use the funds to expand product functionality, add new lines of insurance, grow both staff and partnerships to expand its reach, and make investments in brand-building and other marketing efforts.
Led by Joshua Dziabiak (COO), Keith Melnick (CEO), Adam Lyons (Founder & Chairman), The Zebra provides an auto insurance comparison marketplace that aims to simplify how consumers understand, purchase, and manage insurance. The company has partnered with 80% of the top 25 auto insurance companies and offers educational resources, allowing consumers to search, understand, and purchase coverage.
