Optalysys Raises $3.95M in Seed Funding

Optalysys Ltd., a Glasshoughton, UK-based developer of light-speed optical coprocessors, raised $3.95m in seed funding.

Undisclosed angel investors participated in the round.

The company will use the funds to manufacture the first commercially available high-performance computing (HPC) processor based on its patented optical processing technology.

Led by Dr. Nick New, CEO, and Emma Blaylock, director and Chief Commercial Officer, Optalysys is developing optical HPC systems based on an established diffractive optical approach that uses low-power laser light in place of electricity for processing to enable increased processing capacity.
