essDOCS, a Valletta, Malta-based paperless trade company, acquires TradeCert, a Galway, Ireland-based provider of electronic Certificates of Origin.
The amount of the deal – completed through essDOCS Ventures, the Group’s investment and partnership arm – was not disclosed.
The acquisition will enhance essDOCS’ expertise and solution capabilities in eCertification. essDOCS now operates a large eCO network of over 28,000 Exporters and Freight Forwarders applying for and receiving certificates of origin from over 200 Chambers of Commerce across 10 countries. essDOCS eCOs are used for imports into 169 countries globally.
A newly-established certification arm, essDOCS Certification, will develop an eCO platform by combining essDOCS’ two existing solutions, eCertify and TradeCert, and will invest in new technologies to enable mobile and distributed ledger options to customers. TradeCert’s team in Galway, Ireland, will act as essDOCS’ Center of Excellence for Certification and will be supported by essDOCS personnel in the US, UK, Greece, Singapore and Australia.
