Advanced Microgrid Solutions Raises $34M in Series B Funding

Advanced Microgrid Solutions, a provider of advanced energy storage for energy management and utility services, raised over $34m in Series B funding.

The round, which brings AMS’s total funding to $52m, was led by Energy Impact Partners, a collaborative utility-funded investment firm, Southern Company (NYSE: SO) and DBL Partners, with participation from GE Ventures, AGL Energy Limited (AGL) and Macquarie Capital, as well as reinvestment from Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The company intends to use the funds to scale deployment and expand its platform services to new markets.

Led by CEO Susan Kennedy, AMS provides the Armada platform which uses cloud-based analytics and advanced energy storage to provide continuous financial optimization of customer-sited energy resources for end-use customers, and aggregates behind-the-meter resources into fully optimized, dispatchable portfolios for utility service. The company has offices in San Francisco, NY, Austin, TX, and Boston, MA.
