Samsara, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of Internet-connected sensor systems, raised $40m in Series C financing.

The round, which valued Samsara at over $530m, was led by General Catalyst, with participation from existing investor Andreessen Horowitz and Samsara’s founders. In conjunction with the funding, Hemant Taneja, Managing Director at General Catalyst, joined Samsara’s board of directors.

Enterprise-scale deployments include long haul trucking companies, Fortune 500 food producers, passenger transit operators, local governments, and public utilities.
Samsara has a team of 100 people and plans to double headcount to 200 by year’s end.
