GreatHorn Raises $6.3M in Series A Funding

GreatHorn, a Belmont, MA-based cyber security solution provider for cloud communications platforms, secured $6.3m in Series A funding.

The investors included Techstars Venture Capital Fund, .406 Ventures, ff Venture Capital, SoftTech Ventures and RRE Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Greg Dracon, a partner at .406 Ventures and Ari Newman, a partner at Techstars, will join GreatHorn’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the capital to expand its R&D activities and accelerate sales and marketing efforts.

Led by Co-Founder and CEO Kevin O’Brien, GreatHorn provides a cloud based cybersecurity solution for enterprises to protect cloud communications platforms, including Slack, Skype, Office 365 and G Suite, against message-based threats, driven by machine learning and automated response capabilities. The company’s Inbound Email Security platform provides the ability to identify and shut down these attacks before damage occurs without the risk of a traditional network routing solution or the limitations of perimeter blocking. In addition, the company’s Messaging Security offering provides protection from advanced threats in ChatOps systems like Slack, helping organizations identify and remediate imposter apps and bots, catch and respond to credential loss events, and enforce content policies across multiple channels automatically.
