Spotify Acquires Machine Learning Startup Niland

Music streaming company Spotify acquired Niland, a Paris-based machine learning startup.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

Founded in 2013 by Damien Tardieu, CEO, Christophe Charbuillet, CTO, and Johan Pages, CPO, Niland leverages AI technology to optimize music search and recommendation capabilities.
Following the acquisition, the team will join the New York office and help Spotify continue innovating and improving its recommendation and personalization technologies resulting in better music discovery by surfacing the right content to the right user at the right time.
