Freebird Raises $5M in Funding

Freebird, a Cambridge, MA-based company dedicated to decreasing the impact of flight disruption, raised $5M in funding.

Backers included venture capital investors General Catalyst and Accomplice, as well as travel industry angel investors Scott Hintz, Mitch Gross, and Ellen Keszler.

The company, which has raised $8.5M in total funding to date, intends to use the funds to accelerate expansion in the corporate travel market.

Led by Ethan Bernstein, co-founder and CEO, Freebird provides a solution for business travelers and corporate travel managers to book a new ticket for free, on any airline, after a flight cancellation, significant delay, or missed connection on any airline, for free, via their mobile phone.

To date, Freebird has signed partnerships with Travel Management Companies (TMCs) including Altour, Options Travel, Safe Harbors Business Travel, Short’s Travel Management, Travel and Transport, Upside Travel, Casto Travel and Flight Centre Travel Group (USA) as official resellers.
