Cortexica Raises £2M in Funding

Cortexica, a London, UK- and San Francisco, CA-based provider of a visual search engine for retailer, raised £2m in funding.

Touchstone Innovations made the investment.

The company, which has raised £4 in total in the year, will use the funds to continue to expand operations.

Led by Iain McCready, CEO, Cortexica Vision Systems leverages AI to provide retailers with image and object recognition systems. The software, which can be integrated with any system and platform, has the ability to run in the cloud, within mobile apps, or on device. It is being used by a innovative global businesses including John Lewis, Accenture, GSK, Zalando and Macy’s.
The company was spun-out from the Bioengineering Department of Imperial College London, originating from a research project to reverse-engineer the human visual cortex.
