Universe Raises $3.2M in Funding

Universe, a NYC-based platform for mobile to make websites, raised $3.2m in seed funding.

The round was led by General Catalyst, Greylock Partners, Box Group, Collaborative Fund, Founder Collective, and others.

Led by founder and CEO Joseph Cohen, Universe allows anyone to design their online presence with a custom domain, without writing code or spending money on professional developers.
Its user interface features a 3-by-5 grid that enables the creation of websites as building blocks. Using an iPhone, people can create an online business card, a landing page for a new business, a party invite, or a family photo album, all for free.
Universe links are free and custom domains, including .coms, start at $2.99 per month.
