Pear Deck Raises $4M in Equity Funding

Pear Deck, an Iowa City, Iowa-based provider of a SaaS real-time classroom engagement platform, raised $4m in equity funding.

Backers included Growth Street Partners and existing investors Village Capital, Hyde Park Venture Partners, and AOL Co-Founder Steve Case. In conjunction with the investment, Stephen Wolfe, Co-Founder of Growth Street Partners, and Victoria Fram, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Village Capital, will join the Board of Directors.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth, invest in product, and expand go-to-market efforts.

Founded in 2014 by Riley Eynon-Lynch, CEO, Pear Deck provides software that enables K-12 teachers, schools, and school districts to engage students, improve educational outcomes, and enhance the teacher experience. The solution allows students to respond in real-time to a teacher’s lesson with text responses, drawings, and other interactive strategies that the teacher can see immediately.
The company has customers in over 40 states, including some of the country’s largest school districts.
