Hazel Technologies Closes $800K Seed Funding

FruitBrite-Demo[1]Hazel Technologies, a Chicago, IL-based agtech startup, closed an $800K seed funding.

The round was led by Rhapsody Venture Partners with participation from VentureWell and Valley Oak Investments.

The company will use the funds to fulfill orders they are receiving for 2017.

Led by CEO and co-founder Aidan Mouat, Hazel Technologies is a food waste prevention company that provides produce growers and shippers with products to extend the shelf-life of fruits and vegetables thereby reducing spoilage, extending seasons, and expanding geographic markets.
The company’s products are:
– FruitBrite, a carton insert that slows ripening of produce, and
– BerryBrite, a berry flat insert that uses a blend of essential oils to increase the shelf life of berries.
