Ripio Raises $1.9M in Funding

logo.verysmallRipio (Fka BitPagos), a Buenos Aires, Argentina-based bitcoin startup, raised $1.9m in funding.

The round was led by Huiyin Blockchain Venture with participation from included Digital Currency Group, Boost VC and Draper VC.

The company, which is expected to close a total of $2.3 million over the next 90 days, intends to use the funds to expand its full suite of digital payment services in Mexico and continue to broaden the user base in Argentina and Brazil, the countries holding the largest Bitcoin communities in Latin America.

Led by CEO and Co-Founder Sebastian Serrano, Ripio offers a digital wallet that provides many options to buy, store and sell Bitcoin in local currency and to pay online in thousands of websites and stores. Last year, they added a new credit service allowing its users to pay in installments without the need of a credit card or a bank account.
Ripio has over 60k users in Latin America.
