SJF Ventures Closed Latest VC Fund, at $125M

sjfSJF Ventures, a Durham, N.C.-based venture capital firm, closed its latest fund, at $125m.

Limited partners in SJF Ventures IV, L.P. include more than two dozen foundation endowments, along with family offices, funds of funds, pensions and individuals active in impact investing.
The fund will invest in high-growth companies which have positive impacts in clean energy and climate change mitigation, asset recovery and recycling, sustainable food and agriculture, education, health and wellness, and quality job creation.

With offices in Durham, New York and San Francisco, SJF Ventures typically invests between $3 and $10 million focusing on expansion-stage companies throughout the U.S.

Founded in 1999, SJF Ventures has invested in 52 portfolio companies across three funds. Representative portfolio businesses include NEXTracker, Novinium, Optoro, Vital Farms, Solera Health, Raise, and LeadGenius.

The firm’s investment team includes Alan Kelley, Arrun Kapoor, Christine Primmer, Cody Nystrom, Dan Geballe, Dave Kirkpatrick, David Griest, Rick Defieux and Stephanie Nieman.
