Accel Partners to Raise $450M Indian Venture Capital Fund

accelThe Indian office of global venture capital firm Accel Partners is raising a new $450m fund.

The new vehicle will invest in early stage startups in consumer businesses, health care, financial technology and business software.

Founded in 1983, Accel is an early and growth-stage venture capital firm backing entrepreneurs who aim to build category-defining businesses.

The Indian team members, who have managed four previous funds in the country since 2005,  include Shekhar Kirani, Mahendran Balachandran, Abhinav Chaturvedi, Anand Daniel, Dinesh Katiyar, Shekhar Kirani, Subrata Mitra, Prashanth Prakash, Barath Shankar Subramanian, and Prayank Swaroop.

Portfolio companies in the country include Flipkart, TaxiForSure, BookMyShow and Freshdesk while main investments globally include Atlassian, Braintree, Cloudera, DJI, Dropbox, Dropcam, Etsy, Facebook, Lookout Security, MoPub, Qualtrics, Slack, Spotify, Supercell, Vox Media and others.
