Social dining service EatWith raised a new round of funding.
The round was led by travel planning and booking site TripAdvisor, Inc. (NASDAQ:TRIP), with participation from Greylock Partners.
The amount of funding will not be disclosed.
The company intends to use the funds for global growth and expansion.
Led by Susan Kim, CEO, EatWith provides a platform to connect people around the world through dining experiences. The site allows travelers to book a seat at the table of a host, typically a local chef who prepares a meal for the group in a private setting such as their own kitchen.
EatWith spans more than 200 global cities, and offers access to more than 650 hosts across 50 countries.
In conjunction with the investment, TripAdvisor will now integrate EatWith on its restaurants pages allowing people researching social dining options under a new “Dine with a Local Chef” category and click through to EatWith to complete the booking.
The new social dining options on TripAdvisor will also feature traveler reviews and photos.
The EatWith integration has begun rolling out on the TripAdvisor desktop site in all countries where TripAdvisor operates, supporting 10 cities at launch. A rollout to TripAdvisor mobile and additional markets will follow.
