Vincross Raises $6M in Series A Funding

hexaVincross, a Beijing, China-based robotics startup company, raised $6m in Series A funding.

The round was led by GGV Capital, with participation from ZhenFund.

The company intends to use the funds for recruitment and R&D.

Led by founder and CEO Sun Tianqi, Vincross is about to launch its first product, all-terrain robot HEXA, a six-legged robot-spider that can climb stairs in the market. It can walk, climb, and travel across rough terrain, which makes it suitable for scientific expeditions and can be also used in firefighting, rescue operations, and even Elon Musk’s Mars plan.
Developers can create skills for HEXA using the SDK, which will be released soon, and sell their works in the company’s Skill Store.

At the beginning of 2015, The company raised $1m in angel funding from ZhenFund, which increased its stake in the latest round. Vincross also plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign for HEXA and start mass production later this year.
