Madefire Raises $6.5M in Series B Funding

madefireMadefire, a San Francisco, CA-based media and technology company, closed a $6.5M Series B funding.

The round was led by Plus Capital with participation from Kevin Spacey, Drake, True Ventures, Big Loud Capital, Anthem Ventures and Framestore Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop platform features and expand operations.

Founded in 2011 by Ben Wolstenholme, Liam Sharp and Eugene Walden, Madefire is the maker of the Madefire app, which aims to re-invent storytelling via innovative reading experience for mobile, tablet, web, TV and VR. The company provides creators and publishers with the ‘Motion Book Publisher,’ a browser-based publishing platform designed for all types of visual books; including comics, graphic novels, children’s books, manga and illustrated books.

The company’s partners and clients include Apple, Archie, Blizzard Entertainment, Boom! DC, Deviant Art, Framestore, Hasbro, IDW, Kodansha, Microsoft, Stan Lee/POW Entertainment, TNT, Twentieth Century Fox and Valiant.
