BrainCheck Raises $3M in Funding

braincheckBrainCheck, a Houton, TX-based mobile brain health tracking solution, closed $3m of initial funding.

The backers were not disclosed.

The company intends to use the funds to its use in athletics and expand into the senior adult market.

Founded in 2014 by neuroscientist Dr. David Eagleman and led by CEO Dr. Yael Katz, BrainCheck uses simple iPad or desktop screen games to measure, reaction time, visual processing, cognitive processing, coordination and memory in just a few minutes. Thousands of student athletes across multiple sports already use the app to establish their baseline brain function and then check brain performance after an injury and during recovery.

After focusing on concussions for the last two years, the company is now developing new software for dementia sufferers.

Based in the Texas Medical Center Accelerator (TMCx) in Houston, BrainCheck currently works with more than 40 large organizations across the country, including school districts, hospitals, YMCAs and youth sports organizations.
