Boston-Based VC Firm Sigma Prime Ventures Hires Jay Batson as Prime Fellow

sigmaSigma Prime Ventures, a Boston, MA-based early stage technology venture capital firm, has announced that Jay Batson has formally become associated with the firm as a Sigma Prime Fellow.

The Sigma Prime Fellows Program brings on board individuals in the Boston area who could become founders of new technology ventures, or who are significant contributors to a company within the Sigma portfolio or to the East Coast startup ecosystem in general.
Fellows work with the Sigma Investment Team examining new business ideas and startups, supporting in the investment diligence and assisting existing Sigma portfolio companies.

Batson has been focused on building early-stage technology product companies for 30+ years. Having worked in or started six (four venture-backed) startups, he has built teams and products for markets ranging from networking hardware to enterprise software.
In 2007, Batson was the founding CEO of Acquia, a Sigma portfolio company which now employs over 750 employees in offices around the globe. Recently, he has become an active Boston angel investor closely involved with both TechStars and MassChallenge. Batson has directly worked with 50-75 startups each year for these organizations beginning in 2013.
